Bochorishvili: Ambassadors Summoned to Provide Information, Not Reprimand

Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili said that diplomats were summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide objective information on the events of October 4, not to reprimand them. She emphasized that the discussions focused on clarifying the international community’s responses, which she said often misrepresent developments in Georgia.

“The conversation touched on the responses we heard from the international community. In many cases, they incorrectly reflect the developments and create a false perception and idea about Georgia. We did not summon the ambassadors to reprimand them; we summoned them to provide objective information,” Bochorishvili stated.

The minister added that the Georgian government values diplomatic relations and remains committed to friendship and partnership, even with countries whose actions may be seen as interfering in Georgia’s internal affairs. “Our society should know that we appreciate all events developing around us, and the actions of ambassadors, but we have our principles of action,” she said.

Earlier today, parliamentary majority leader Irakli Kirtskhalia claimed that some Western diplomats, including representatives of EU member states, exceeded diplomatic standards and displayed signs of interference. Despite these concerns, the Georgian Dream government currently has no plans to expel any diplomats.
