Malkhaz Dolidze, the head of Bakers' Association, declares that the price of bread might increase by 5-7 tetri and nothing is alarming.
Tamaz Dolidze recalls the decision of bread producers to reduce the price of bread by 10 tetri in parallel with the decrease in the price of flour in 2023 and notes that now the cost of primary consumption products should return to that level.
"Let's look at it pragmatically, if the cost of 1 ton of wheat was 700-800 GEL, now it has exceeded 1,000 GEL. The price has increased - it is a fact. If I were to talk about the price of flour, a lot has changed.
Based on the current situation and the necessity of production, there are many details. I will give you one example - bread supply is not allowed with old cars, which are manufactured before 2013, so importing new vehicles costs twice as much. We have to buy these vehicles... There are other details as well, I am not talking about fines, yeast, salt, auxiliary or packaging materials...
So, the bread price might change by 5 or 7 tetri, this will depend on the needs of production. Nothing is alarming here, the main thing is to bake bread and deliver it to the consumer, and this product is of high quality,” - Malkhaz Dolidze noted.
