Malkhaz Dolidze, head of Bakery Products Association declares that bread price increased by 10 tetri on the local market after the termination of the wheat flour subsidy program. According to Dolidze, bread will be sold at this price until October-November.
As the head of Bakery Products Association notes, 50 kilograms of high-quality wheat flour now costs 61-62 GEL as a result of withdrawing from the flour subsidy program by the state. Bakeries have become obliged to adjust bread price and correspondingly, the price has increased by about 10 tetri.
“Bread producers have increased the price by only 10 tetri, we cannot interfere in the final sale price. Due to the liberalization of the market, some stores may increase the price even more, which in my estimation is wrong. As I know, the price of bread in Nikora chain has increased by 15 tetri," Malkhaz Dolidze explained.
