Armenia shows a significant wage disparity between large and small businesses. According to the country's Statistical Committee data as of October 2024, the average salary in companies with more than 250 employees is 382,990 drams (approximately $962), nearly three times higher than in small enterprises, where employees earn an average of 136,648 drams ($343).

There are 70,128 registered organizations in the country, employing a total of 785,195 people. The average monthly salary across all enterprises is 276,419 drams ($694).

Notably, 84% of all organizations are small businesses with fewer than 9 employees. These companies employ 147,607 people, accounting for 19% of the total workforce. The average size of such businesses is three employees.

Medium-sized businesses (10–49 employees) comprise 9,095 companies, or 13% of the total, employing 192,020 people. The average salary in these organizations is 225,462 drams ($566).

In the public sector, the situation differs: 3,668 organizations employ a total of 223,781 people. The average salary in the public sector is 217,740 drams ($547), lower than the national average. Most public-sector organizations (60%) fall into the 10–49 employee category.

Armenia has only 334 large companies with more than 250 employees, yet these firms employ nearly a third of the total workforce - 250,237 people. The average workforce size of these enterprises is 749 employees, reflecting a high concentration of labor in large businesses.
