Business Welcomed New Grid Connection Rules, Says ET Synergy Founder

მერაბ ლომინაძე

Company ET Synergy founder Merab Lominadze has welcomed recent changes introduced by the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) to the “network rules,” saying the measures were expected by the business sector.

The new regulation strictly defines the conditions for connecting power generation facilities - such as hydro, solar, and wind plants - to the transmission grid. The main goal is to improve grid planning, protect public interest, and prevent speculative projects from occupying transmission capacity without real implementation.

“Very important changes have been adopted recently. First of all, they aim to eliminate speculative deals that existed in the market, especially regarding grid connections. I think the business sector was expecting such decisions, and I can only evaluate them positively,” Lominadze said in an interview with TV program Analytics.

He added that activity in the sector has noticeably increased in recent months compared to a year earlier, describing the renewable energy market as “revitalized.”
