Businessman Galip Ozturk faces a detention from 8 to 20 years or life imprisonment – Prosecution

Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia spreads information regarding the arrest of businessman Galip Ozturk. The businessman has been charged by the Prosecutor's Office with illegal purchase and possession of a particularly large amount of drugs.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, as a result of the search of Galip Ozturk's apartment, a particularly large amount of drugs - 7.2159 grams of cocaine was seized.

“The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia charged G.O., the founder of one of the companies in Batumi, with illegal purchase and possession of a large amount of drugs.

Within the framework of the investigation conducted by the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia into alleged cases of tax evasion, production and use of false documents and money laundering, as a result of the search of G.O.'s apartment in Batumi on the basis of a court warrant, a particularly large amount of drug - 7.2159 grams of cocaine was seized on May 31. Law enforcers arrested G.O. on the same day”, reads the statement released by the Prosecutor's Office.

He was charged under Article 260, Part 6, Subparagraph A of the Criminal Code of Georgia (purchase and possession of a particularly large amount of drugs), which provides detention from 8 to 20 years or life imprisonment”, - reads the statement.

Yesterday, Galip Ozturk's company Metro Holding announced that they did not share the allegations announced by the Investigation Service. As Raul Kakhadze, director of the company said, Metro Holding would release the official statement after handing over the case materials.

"We have not received the materials yet - under what article he was arrested, we do not know anything yet. We will make an official statement later”, - he noted.
