Businessman Sulkhan Papashvili plans to build the "Larsi 2 HPP" on the Tergi River, near the Georgian-Russian border - the company has already submitted an environmental impact study and a detailed description of the project to the Environmental Supervision Department.

The project is being implemented by the company "Larsi Power", which was founded in 2020. Its 100% owner is businessman Sulkhan Papashvili.

"Larsi 2 HPP" is a derivative-type hydroelectric power plant, the electricity generation of which is carried out using water generated by the "Larsi 1 HPP". Its main technical characteristics include:

  • Capacity: 5.8 MW,
  • Absence of a headworks: the project does not require the construction of a new water intake facility in the Tergi River, as it will be connected to the water discharge facility generated by Larsi 1.

According to the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), the project will have minimal impact on the Tergi River ecosystem. Various mitigation measures are envisaged, including the construction of a riverbank protection structure and special biodiversity protection programs.

The HPP is expected to generate 28 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year.
