Businessman Nikoloz Shurgaia, who has a rubric in TV Show Business Morning, will join the protest rally scheduled for today - he wrote that on his Facebook page. Shurgaia states that he wants to make his contribution to the country's independence. Despite he is very busy at work, he will find a few hours and state his position on the current events.

"I was born in the Soviet Socialist Republic of Georgia. As a pioneer, a Communist and a young citizen, I saw well what that country was like.

In 1991, with a great struggle and thanks to the Lord, Georgia gained freedom. It was a happy moment after almost two years of captivity. The deliberate development of ties with other nations during the captivity, which also had many positive aspects, brought great material prosperity to our country. At the same time, we are greatly diminished, first and foremost, spiritually. We have also become accustomed to stealing in various forms.

Today, some people look back on that time and see our country as part of the descendants of the Soviet Union (Giorgievsky's treatise was like that - first an alliance and then swallowed it up. I will remind them that in the nineties, what happened to us, we treated ourselves with internal strife, robbery of brothers and corruption. The USSR does not exist anymore and it never will be. Its descendants are a much poorer, technologically hopeless backward, very unequal and no less cruel country than before. None of their satellite countries live well. They also have advantages and great military strength. In any case, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence with a great strong neighbor is desirable. At the same time, returning to the gutter is not allowed.

Our country has been striving to become part of Europe for centuries. Important moments were the establishment and strengthening of Eduard Shevardnadze's course towards the West, the significant increase in support for the United States and European countries during Mikheil Saakashvili's rule, and the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union under Bidzina Ivanishvili. We received the greatest help from Western countries during the years of independence. We are still receiving great help. Hundreds of thousands of our citizens work in Western countries and send more than a billion dollars home to support their families each year. The protection of our chosen territory and borders also depends on the countries of the West. The vast majority of Georgia's population wants Western alliances and partnerships.

I do not believe that any big party wants to change the western course of our country and move north. At the same time, I do not like, in the last two years and especially in recent months, the increasing anti-Western actions and statements from the high tribune. As we move further and farther west, we have already begun to search for enemies there and dig them into the mud. This is a dangerous trend and do not get into the habit!

Tyrannical countries and their agencies are acting slowly. They have great material resources and patience. It is so possible for our polarized society to impose its will that many of us, out of fear, disbelief, obsession with fellow hatred, or a desire to be left out, will not make a sound. Most of us have a laid-back attitude when it comes to painting a picture about ourselves.

I decided to make a small contribution to the protection of independence, so that no agent or sincere seller of the country's interests would think that I could break Georgia's free will. Despite, I am busy at work, I will find a few hours and join the march scheduled for 3 p.m. on Friday.

Do not let any party think that my as well as attendance of other people means that they are supports of any political parties. This is a political march. I am in favor of Georgia and its independence. Supporter and advocate of a fair, equal and developing Georgia. I am Georgian, therefore I am European.

Freedom does not come on its own, freedom is only the lions’ fate," wrote businessman Nikoloz Shurgaia.
