Prices for used cars decreased by an average of 14.9% across the United States of America in December, compared to the same period of the previous year,- accoridng to the statistics of the Manheim auction.
As of Aleksandre Vekua, sales director of Caucasus Autoimport, Georgia practically does not buy cars from Manheim, so this trend could not affect car prices in Georgia.
"Manheim's statistics cannot affect us, because undamaged cars are sold on Manheim platform and it is mainly focused on the domestic market. Our region mostly buys cars on Copart with minor damage, which are cheaper for us.
On the platforms of Copart and other insurance auctions, there is no sharp drop in the price, there are positive trends, but not so big," said Aleksandre Vekua.
As for the current price on the Georgian market, the sales director of Caucasus Autoimport notes that it increases along with the increased demand.
"In our case, the prices depend on the demand in the region, Georgia is a kind of hub in the region in terms of transport distribution, our demand regulates the price at the insurance auctions, so along with the increased demand price also increases.
Currently, the demand is relatively reduced, January-February is generally less profitable in terms of sales, but we expect an increase in demand for spring-summer, so the price will also increase. At this stage, the prices have increased by 20-30% compared to the previous year", says Aleksandre Vekua.
