Car prices in Georgia may increase by another 15–20%, Aleksi Noniadze, head of the Association of Auto Importers and Car Owners, told BM.GE.
According to Noniadze, several factors are driving higher prices, including increased customs duties, reduced supply, rising vehicle prices at U.S. auctions and higher logistics costs.
“It is difficult to give an exact figure, but we expect prices to rise by an average of around 15–20%. One factor is the increase in customs duties, which directly affects prices. Another is reduced supply: when supply declines while demand remains unchanged, prices naturally rise. This is compounded by higher vehicle prices at U.S. auctions and certain logistical problems that are also increasing costs. This trend is still continuing, so we expect prices to rise further,” Noniadze said.
Since April 1, 2026, excise duties on imported vehicles have increased. The rate for vehicles aged up to six years is GEL 1.5 per 1 cubic centimeter of engine capacity, while vehicles older than six years are subject to a rate of GEL 4.5 per cubic centimeter.
