Cargo turnover in Georgia corridor is still diminishing. Within two months of the current year, transport sector shipped total of 5.5mln tons, which is annual rate reduced by 0.3 mln tons. In 2017, total volume of cargo shipped through Georgia corridor was 41.5 mln tons, while in 2016 the volume was 42.3 mln tons and in 2015 – 44.2 mln tons.
The volume of cargo handled by seaports and sea terminals has also decreased to 2.6 mln tons with two months of the current year instead of 2.8 mln tons of the same period last year. Cargo handling in ports has also been diminishing for years: in 2017, total cargo handles by ports was 16.3 mln tons, while in 2016 the volume was 17.6 mln tons and in 2015 – 19.2 mln tons. The rate of container handling in ports has slightly increased to 65 646 TEU units within two months of the current year.
