The volume of cargo shipped by the Batumi port and oil terminal in 2022 has increased to 7.6 million tons, which is related to the growth in the volume of transportation of dark oil products of Kazakh origin.

Batumi Port and Oil Terminal Operator Company published a report for 2022.

According to the reports, the total volume of cargo handling of "Batumi Oil Terminal" (100% share belongs to JSC "Kaztransoil") and LLC "Batumi Seaport" (exclusive right to manage 100%-share) amounted to 7.6 million tons in 2022, which was 7.6 million tons in 2021. It exceeded the same indicator by 1.3 million tons.

Last year, the transshipment volume of oil, oil products and gas amounted to 1.9 million tons up by 0.4 million tons compared to 2021.

"The increase in the shipment volume is related to the increase in the shipment volume of dark oil products of Kazakh origin, as well as the continuation of cooperation with Tengizchevroil LLP on the issues of oil and liquid hydrocarbon gas shipment," the company explains.

As for the transshipment volume of dry cargo shipments, it amounted to 1.7 million tons, which was 0.5 million tons more than in 2021, due to the increase in the transshipment of urea and raw sugar.

The container terminal handled 119,000 TEUs in 2022, which was 20,000 TEUs more than in 2021.
