CEC Calls On The Parties Involved In The Elections To Stop Politically Motivated Attacks On The Election Administration

ცესკო პოლიტიკურ პარტიებს პარლამენტის არჩევნებისთვის პარტიული სიის ელექტრონულად წარდგენის შესაძლებლობას აძლევს

The CEC calls on the parties involved in the elections to stop politically motivated attacks on the election administration.

According to the CEC, there are a few days left before the opening of polling stations abroad for the October 26 elections, and the election administration will implement all procedures in accordance with the law, which will ensure participation in the elections of citizens registered outside Georgia according to the law.

"Nevertheless, interested parties are manipulating this issue and misleading voters. Statements are made as if the election administration, which scrupulously follows the law, is committing some kind of crime. It is a pity that the President's Institute is also involved in the discrediting campaign against the CEC, whose representatives and the President herself, the leaders of the election administration, within the framework of meetings of various formats, repeatedly explained the regulations and provided complete information that regulates the issue of voting abroad.

It is a pity that the President of Georgia and her representatives, instead of supporting the independence of the institution, discredit it and give the public a perception that the election administration violates the law and refuses to open polling stations abroad. We call on the President and her representatives to stop politically motivated attacks on the election administration, attempts to create wrong perceptions for the voters, and thereby respect the voters, both inside and outside the country.

Regarding the procedure for opening election precincts abroad, we have repeatedly explained the requirements of the legislation, which clearly states that the CEC creates election precincts in another state no later than the 30th day before the election day based on the data of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. Abroad, a polling station is created for not less than 50 and not more than 3,000 voters who are on consular registration. There are only 2 days left before the implementation of the said procedure, and we call on the involved parties not to create wrong perceptions and not to damage both the institution and the election environment in general by making demands inconsistent with the law", - it is noted in the information released by the CEC.
