Georgian Health Minister Zurab Azarashvili on Monday explained the reasons behind building a state clinic on the base of the Central Republican Hospital.
As Azarashvili stated, the clinic does not fulfil current standards.
“According to the conclusions prepared by five different independent sources, unfortunately, the Republican Hospital cannot meet any current criteria. Its rehabilitation would be inefficient.”
The Minister went on to say that the new facility will have over 500 patient beds and meet all requirements for a multi-disciplinary clinic. The project’s budget is around 200 million GEL.
Azarashvili emphasised the need of foreign experience in the tendering process.
The Minister also addressed the prospects of current employees, stating that they had been provided “unprecedented and decent conditions.”
“There are different offers, which include, the payment of twelve months’ compensation or employment in the same position in another clinic, and the payment of four months’ compensation,” he said.
The project is expected to take 36-48 months to complete.
