“Chateau Le Beridze” to Launch New Wine Tourism Hub in Martvili

A new wine tourism destination is being developed in Martvili Municipality, as “Chateau Le Beridze” prepares to open to visitors from this summer.

Founder Natia Beridze says the project, located in the village of Nakhurtsilavo, is more than a winery - it is a continuation of Megrelian traditions, winemaking heritage, and family legacy.

The estate features indigenous Megrelian grape varieties and produces wine using European technology. Infrastructure works and preparations for hosting guests are currently underway.

“We restored and rebuilt the house. Soon we will be able to host visitors. We also have a traditional Megrelian ‘jargvali’ structure, partly functioning as a wine cellar, where we store our wines,” she said, adding that guests will be able to taste local cuisine and wines, including Ojaleshi.

Beridze says the project focuses on developing wine tourism, as the location sits between two major tourist attractions - Martvili Canyon and Nokalakevi - and benefits from steady visitor flow.

The winery is currently preparing to release its 2023–2024 vintages, while wines from the 2025 harvest will enter the market later due to the use of unfiltered production methods.

“We try to preserve the natural taste of grapes, so we produce unfiltered wine, which requires more time. This year’s harvest will likely be available in about a year,” she noted.

“Chateau Le Beridze” also participates in wine festivals and is expanding its sales network, working with partners such as “8000 Vintages” to support the distribution of Georgian wine.
