Cherry.ge Expects Better Harvest Than Last Year Despite Spring Frost Damage

ბალი

Cherry producer Cherry.ge expects a stronger harvest this year than in 2025, despite spring frosts once again affecting production, founder Davit Chubabria told BMG.

The company’s orchards in Georgia’s Gori region have an annual production capacity of about 150 tons, but this year’s harvest is expected to reach only 70–75 tons after frost damaged roughly half of the region’s cherry and stone fruit crops. Still, the result would be a significant improvement over last year, when the farm harvested just 5 tons following severe frost damage.

Chubabria said harvesting will begin in the second half of June, around two weeks later than usual due to delayed flowering. Temperatures this spring fell below zero for several hours, reaching a low of about -4°C.

Cherry.ge’s 11-hectare orchard represents an investment of approximately GEL 2.5 million. Rather than expanding, the company now plans to focus on investing in frost-protection systems, as damaging spring frosts have affected production for two consecutive years.
