Chicken Egg Incubator was launched in Sagarejo, Georgia in March. Incubator chickens are exported in Azerbaijan and Armenia, while some of them are sold on the local market.
The incubator project is part of the large chicken breeding project of the Turkish company HasTavuk, the total investment value amounts to GEL 50 million.
Zurab Uchumbegashvili, the Chairman of the Poultry Breeding Association, notes that the big project in the field of poultry breeding will be implemented gradually and everything is going according to plan.
"In March, an incubator with Turkish investment was launched in Sagarejo. At this stage, we import hatching eggs from Turkey and Hungary. They are hatched in our incubator and the chicks are exported to Azerbaijan and Armenia. The incubator is equipped with Belgian incubation machines. Today, 50 people are employed in the enterprise.
The incubator has the resources to hatch 1.7 million chicks per month. Today, the enterprise is not working at full capacity, as we are searching for additional markets. Moreover, until September, the demand for chicken meat and chicks is low, and from the second half of autumn, the capacities will increase along with the grown demand," said Zurab Uchumbegashvili.
