Georgian Civil Aviation Agency has summarized 2019. Levan Karanadze, director of Civil Aviation Agency highlighted the entering of Ryanair and Air France. He has noted that operating of leading brands, significantly increases the level of country’s awareness in the world. At the same time, the head of the agency positively assessed the fact that, along with "Wizz Air" and "Turkish Airlines", Georgian Airways holds one of the leading positions on the market ("Wizz Air" -16%, "Turkish Airlines" -11%, "Georgian Airways" -10%).
According to Levan Karanadze, Georgian airports served 4 877 963 passengers for 11 months, which is 4% more comparing to the same period of 2018. The head of the agency also noted that over 16% growth was predicted for this period.
According to him, the fall in the forecast is due to the interruption of air traffic between Georgia and Russia since July 8. According to Levan Karanadze, despite the mentioned challenge, Georgian Civil Aviation Agency expects about 2-3% increase in passenger traffic. Georgian airports served 5 033 323 passengers last year
