Commercial advertising income of TV, radio broadcasters up 22% in Q2

Commercial advertising income of the Georgian television and radio broadcasters equaled GEL 23.3 million ($9mln) in the second quarter of 2022, a 22.4% increase compared to the same period of last year, the Communications Commission announced on Tuesday.

In the case of TV companies, the amount received from commercial advertising in the second quarter of 2023 amounted to GEL 21.4 million ($8.2 mln), which is GEL 3.9 million ($1.5 million) more than in the same period last year. Direct advertising provided 66.9% of TV broadcasters' advertising revenues. Compared to the second quarter of 2022, the share of sponsorship decreased by 5.1%, while the share of product placement increased by 3.9%.

The regulatory body also noted that advertising revenue of Radio broadcasters in the second quarter of 2023 increased by 18.9% compared to the same period last year and amounted to GEL 1.9 million ($728 K), of which direct advertising accounts for 90.6%, and the share of sponsorship is 9.3%.
