The volume of loans issued by commercial banks (excluding interbank loans) in May 2023 increased by GEL 959.72 million or by 2.14% compared to the previous month (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 0.88%) and constituted GEL 45.7 billion by the end of May 2023.
The volume of loans in national currency increased by GEL 286.06 million (1.14%) and the volume of loans in foreign currency increased by GEL 673.66 million or by 3.41% in the same period (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 0.55%).
"By the end of May 2023, the total volume of national currency denominated loans to resident legal entities issued by commercial banks amounted to GEL 7.36 billion (0.10% more compared to the previous month), and foreign currency denominated loans constituted GEL 12.45 billion (3.19% more; exchange rate effect excluded volume of lending in foreign currency increased by 0.34%).
During May 2023, the volume of lending to resident household sector increased by 2.18% or GEL 525.43 million, and constituted GEL 24.68 billion by the end of May 2023.
Larization ratio for total loans constituted 55.34% by the end of May 2023 and decreased by 0.55 percentage point (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 0.14 percentage point), compared to the end of April 2023.
