The Georgian National Competition Agency, based on the complaint of LLC “Tsereteli Mexikuri”, started investigating the dispute between the companies operating in the fast food market. The case concerns the alleged violation of unfair competition by two companies. In particular, appropriation/imitation of the trademarks and appearance of the applicant company.
After making a decision to initiate a case investigation, the Agency shall start the investigation and make a decision not later than 6 months. An investigation, depending on its significance and complexity, may be extended up to 18 months by the decision of the Agency.
The National Competition Agency is considering the investigation of 5 cases - alleged cases of concerted action, abuse of a dominant position, unfair competition, and restriction of competition by an administrative agency - in the sectors of auto fuel, tobacco, marine transport, online ticket sales market and supervision of municipal projects. In 2023, the Agency completed one investigation and established the fact of restriction of competition by the administrative agency.
