Aleksandre Nebieridze, the founder of "Natural" supermarket says that the state must establish a competitive environment because competition stabilizes prices. According to him, additional regulations, planned by the government, will have a negative impact on the prices.
"We are partially dependent on imported products, while the other part is produced in our farm and bakery. The distribution companies set the prices for the imported products, while our farm helps us to offer relatively low prices to the customers.
The suppliers often change the price, we try not to be easily vulnerable and refrain from price growth. However, it should be noted that there is inflation and doing business without markups is impossible. Accordingly, in case of price growth by the suppliers, we also have to increase the prices. For example, in the last year, we increased the prices by about 20-30%", Nebieridze said.
The Prime Minister criticized food importers at the government meeting a few weeks ago and said that they work with a very high-profit margin. After that, the Prime Minister said that the Ministry of Economy would prepare a draft law regarding food prices.
"Natural" has been operating in the market since 2014 and is represented by two branches.
