Georgia's construction sector is facing a shortage of qualified workers despite the availability of vocational education programs, Infrastructure Minister Revaz Sokhadze said following a meeting between construction companies and representatives of public and private vocational education institutions.

According to the Infrastructure Ministry, the meeting focused on addressing the industry's labor shortage through closer cooperation between the government, businesses and vocational colleges, with the aim of increasing the number of qualified specialists and improving employment opportunities.

"Today, construction companies are experiencing a shortage of qualified personnel, even though vocational institutions in Georgia are training specialists in these fields. Our main goal is to strengthen cooperation between businesses and vocational education institutions," Sokhadze said.

The meeting was attended by Infrastructure Minister Revaz Sokhadze, Deputy Education Minister Baia Kvitsiani, Head of the Vocational Education Development Department Tamar Kvinikadze, as well as representatives of the construction industry and vocational education sector.
