Tbilisi Vice Mayor Giorgi Tkemaladze has announced that the construction of the visitor center and panoramic restaurant on the Tbilisi Tower is expected to be completed in 2027. The Vice Mayor shared this update during the presentation of the city’s Transport and Urban Development Policy.
“We are implementing the Tbilisi Tower development project with the involvement of the Ministry of Economy and business, for which I thank them. After the construction of the visitor center and panoramic restaurant, we will have another important object in the city in terms of tourist attractions. The works will be completed in 2027,” Tkemaladze stated.
The project was initially announced in 2018 by Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, who revealed plans to modernize the historical TV tower and develop it as a tourist attraction. A development concept was prepared at the time, but it wasn’t until 2021 that the project gained business interest. Following an expression of interest process, KASS GROUP was selected as the investor to develop the site.
KASS GROUP is obligated to invest USD 4 million in the project, after which it will manage the tourist infrastructure on the Tbilisi Tower for 28 years. Originally, the project was expected to be completed in 2024. However, according to KASS GROUP Technical Director Ana Shanidze, the timeline was pushed back by two years due to complications related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2024, Irakli Tavartkiladze, head of the Tbilisi City Hall Property Management Agency, confirmed that the detailed design for the modernization of the tower had been completed and that construction could begin in 2025.
Once finished, the Tbilisi Tower visitor center and panoramic restaurant are expected to become major attractions for both local residents and tourists, adding another landmark to the capital’s skyline.
