Construction of two more hydroelectric power plants (Ksani 1 and Ksani 2) is planned on the Mtkvari River in the Mtskheta Municipality. This is known from the draft report submitted to the Environmental Supervision Department. The project is being implemented by LLC "NC 2022".
Ksani 1 and Ksani 2 hydroelectric power plants will be located one after the other on the Mtkvari River. The capacity of the first hydroelectric power plant will be 18.3 megawatts, and the capacity of the second hydroelectric power plant will be 19.4 megawatts. Accordingly, their total capacity is 37.7 megawatts. The annual output of the hydroelectric power plants should be 204 million kilowatt hours.
The project includes the construction of the headwaters, a dam and an aggregate dam, as well as a fish pass.
In addition, the company "NC 2022" plans to build three more hydroelectric power plants on the Mtkvari River:
Grakali HPP - 17 MW capacity;
Osiauri HPP - 14.2 MW capacity;
Kaspi HPP - 22.4 MW capacity;
Accordingly, the total installed capacity of both Ksani 1 and Ksani 2 and these three HPPs will reach 91.3 MW.
According to the business register, the company "NC 2022" was founded in 2022, its director is Gocha Museliani, who is also the director of the company "Imer Energy Capital". The company plans to build a cascade of Dzevra HPPs on the Dzevrula River in the Terjola municipality of Imereti. The owner of both "NC 2022" and "Imer Energy Capital" is businessman Koka Kokolashvili.
