Deputy Minister of Economy Genadi Arveladze says that the growing importance of the Middle Corridor as an alternative route has already been reflected in the increase in transportation volume. According to him, in 2024, container transportation between China and Georgia through the Middle Corridor increased 15 folds and reached a record 12,678 TEU.
"The role of the Middle Corridor as a key economic route between Europe and Asia is increasing significantly. The growing importance of the corridor lies in its strategic location, which is becoming a faster alternative to traditional trade routes and strengthens supply chain sustainability. With continuous investment in infrastructure and logistics, the economic potential of the corridor is growing increasingly, "- Genadi Arveladze at a panel session held within the framework of the annual meeting of representatives of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC).
At the annual meeting of national representatives of CAREC member states, it is planned to review the progress of implementing CAREC Strategy 2030 and develop a future action plan. The implementation process of sectoral strategies will also be reviewed, covering important areas such as transport, trade, energy, and digital transformation topics.
