Cooperation Agreement Between PRO Georgia Plus And UNDP To Be Signed

The cooperation agreement between PRO Georgia Plus and UNDP will be signed on April 4. According to the agreement, PRO Georgia Plus will give consultations to UNDP, and share Coca-Cola's experience in waste management.

The document, which will be signed on April 4 in Kutaisi, reports:

"The overall purpose of the cooperation between the Signatories is to enhance a sustainable system of private-public partnership to strengthen circular economy, improve waste management, separation and recycling in Imereti Region.

UNDP and the Partners have identified the following activities in which cooperation may be pursued, with each Signatory operating subject to its respective mandates, regulations, rules, policies and procedures:

(a) Cooperate and implement joint actions for developing waste separation, collection and recycling partnerships, Infrastructure, and knowledge-sharing platforms;

(b) Develop and implement joint actions with the Packaging Waste Producer Responsibility Organizations, for a Sustainable Model development of Plastic Separated Collection, Transportation and Reuse, and Recycling or Energy Recovery, in close cooperation with local municipalities and broad involvement of all interested parties;

(c) Design and build partnerships for implementation and knowledge sharing on defining the composition of municipal waste according to
fractions, their percentage composition, and volumes. And based on the data generated to draft Municipality Waste Management Plan, considering Extended Producer Responsibility Obligations;

(d) Support innovative production of packaging, reducing the volume of unnecessary packaging in each packaging unit, and thus supporting cost-
effective recycling schemes application; And

(e) Develop of joint projects for the provision of suitable infrastructure for collecting packaging waste separation and mobilizing knowledge and other resources for their implementation.
