Georgian fashion brand Cosmo has introduced a new collection made from an innovative biomaterial, grape-seed bio-leather, presenting the line at the major international exhibition Mipel in Milan. Founder Nino Mukhulishvili said the debut of the brand’s first-ever handbag line marked a major milestone, especially as the material was discovered during their work in sustainable fashion.
Cosmo partnered with an Italian manufacturer to develop the unique bio-leather, making it the first brand in Georgia to use this material. Mukhulishvili emphasized the symbolic value of incorporating grape-based leather in a country with an 8,000-year winemaking tradition. The limited-edition “Wine” bag line will include only 60 pieces across two colors, with a third already sold out.
The brand also received international recognition in Milan: Cosmo’s unisex “Connection M” bag was selected for the Trend Area as one of the best designs showcased at the exhibition. Beyond bags, Cosmo continues expanding—its silver jewelry line, launched a year ago, offers themed collections pairing bags, scarves, jewelry, and accessories under a unified concept.
Supported by the Produce in Georgia program, Cosmo is growing its footprint in Milan, Paris, and Tokyo, while maintaining strong partnerships in Denmark and active discussions in China. Mukhulishvili also announced the opening of a new open-studio concept space in Tbilisi this spring, where visitors will be able to watch the creation process and participate in it for a creative and therapeutic experience.
