Country of this potential should not need imported milk powder, - Tina Makharadze, the director of the newly opened Swiss Agrarian School in Dmanisi district, said in an interview with Forbes Georgia.
As she noted, Georgia has a great prospect in the agricultural sector, in particular in livestock and dairy production. According to him, there are many unexploited pastures in Kvemo Kartli.
"We have all the conditions to produce this product on the spot. For this we need to educate farmers, they need to learn how to improve milk quality, cattle varieties, etc. All this can lead to better results," he said.
Tina Makharadze deeply believes that in order to realize this potential, it is necessary to conduct research and experiments.
"We must also teach farmers that cattle health is essential. Veterinary medicine needs serious attention. That is why we plan to work actively with farmers in the region. We have interesting projects within which we will select sample farms, where we will start offering and introducing new technologies," he added.
