Before the sitting of the Finance and Budget Committee, Irakli Kovzanadze, the head of the committee, has made a statement regarding the developments on July 5, saying that nothing is above human life and freedom, so the investigation should continue and all perpetrators must be punished.
He also noted that the country is going through a difficult period, the economy has started to recover and grow rapidly, and in such a situation the investment environment needs to be taken care of.
"After these events, tourist and hotel reservations are canceled. I think we all see the importance of tourism, as tourism has become a factor of forming GEL exchange rate, while the service sector amounts to more than 70% of GDP. No foreigners will invest in a country, where life risks are created here.
First of all, the Parliament, together with the government, must do everything to restore the feeling of safety. Similar events should not be repeated. At this time, we need foreign direct investments and we have a shortage of them. It is very good that the Minister of Internal Affairs will come to the Parliament and all the questions will be answered,” Irakli Kovzanadze said.
Changes to the Budget 2021 are currently being discussed in the Finance and Budget Committee.
