Customs officers at the Sarphi border checkpoint intercepted a shipment of undeclared gold.
During a routine customs control procedure, suspicion arose, prompting a search of a motorcar driven by a foreign national. The resulting inspection revealed the presence of 1,565.4 grams of undeclared golden jewellery items.
The perpetrator had attempted to conceal the gold within plastic and paper boxes secured with glue lace.
The estimated value of the undeclared gold is GEL 240,461.09. The case materials have been submitted to the Investigation Service for further investigation.
