Beekeeping Regional Beekeeping Center was built and equipped by the Czech Development Agency in the framework of the project “Sustainable Development of Beekeeping in Georgia” with the partnership of People in Need Georgia, Association “Agora” and Tbilisi City Hall. The center will consider and be based on 3 main directions during its operation period:
• Strategic vision of the Centre is rooted in rural/urban connectivity, sustainable agriculture, and in vision of Tbilisi-as-a-Green City.
• Key principles of the Centre are environmental appreciation, sustainable resource use and inclusive growth.
• Centre principal vision is to be a central player in Georgia’s growing beekeeping sector.
In 2021, the following activities were implemented for Beekeeping Regional Center:
• BageBee Beekeeping Trainers hub was created on behalf of qualified and professionally trained beekeepers;
• 2022-2025 Strategy for Beekeeping regional center was developed together with business plan and other related documents;
• Various project applications were submitting to the local and international donors to ensure the financial sustainability of the Center, and the grant for innovation project was received;
• Bagebee Center actively implement educational and practical training courses on its material and technical base according to the modules created within the project "Sustainable Development of Beekeeping in Georgia". In particular: introductory, intermediary and advanced courses for beekeepers.
• 300 workbook manuals based on already created curricula were published for internal use for BageBee beekeeping training center participants;
• The direction of api-therapy is presented in the center with a fully equipped api-therapy cabinet and api-house;
• Outside training space was built for proper management of the educational component at Bagebee Center;
• Visual demonstration materials and spaces were add to the center yard in order to popularize Beekeeping field related latest technologies.
About Project “Sustainable Development of Beekeeping in Georgia”
The PIN project “Sustainable Development of Beekeeping in Georgia 2018 - 2021” aimed to strengthen the country’s beekeeping sector and support the sustainability of the Multifunctional Regional Beekeeping Centre (subsequently referred to as the BageBee Centre), constructed under CzDA project with partnership of Union-Association Agora and Tbilisi City Hall.
In 2021, PIN’s focus for the extension is on targeting the organizational capacity of the BageBee Centre and the Union-Association Agora team with a gradual transfer from PIN to Union-Association Agora of all organizational responsibilities by the end of the project. The extension includes a significant expansion of PIN’s roles and responsibilities within this timeframe, requiring up close work with Union-Association Agora staff at the BageBee Centre.
