As the peak season for retail approaches, customer traffic in shopping malls is rising, driven by New Year demand. Nini Aduashvili, Head of Communications at Galleria Tbilisi, says market dynamics have improved notably since the second half of the year, supported in part by Black Friday campaigns.
According to Aduashvili, both retailers and consumers have adapted their approach to Black Friday, with discounts now offered over an entire week rather than a single day. This has helped distribute customer flows more evenly and improved overall sales performance. After a relatively slow start to the year, customer activity picked up significantly in the second half.
Compared to last year, sales at Galleria Tbilisi have increased by around 15%, with foreign tourists playing a particularly important role. Aduashvili noted that both customer traffic and average spending per visit were higher during this year’s Black Friday period.
Currently, daily visitor numbers at Galleria Tbilisi have reached 20,000–22,000, up from a usual average of around 15,000, reflecting strong seasonal demand ahead of the holidays.
