Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani held his first meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to Georgia Pakeer Mohideen Amza.
The Georgian side expressed its appreciation for the upcoming visit of the President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena to Georgia and his planned participation in the 5th Global Summit of the Open Government Partnership scheduled to take place in Tbilisi from 17 to 19 July. The visit of the President of Sri Lanka is a remarkable event in the history of relations between the two countries the more especially as it coincides on the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Sri Lanka.
The sides discussed the possibilities of further developing bilateral co-operation in the political, economic and humanitarian areas. The Georgian side expressed its readiness to host the bilateral political consultations in 2018.
