"Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Davit Zalkaliani has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States of America. I want to thank him for his work. Mr. Davit has tremendous experience. Has served our country for 30 years in various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has been involved in virtually every major decision for 30 years. During the term of our government, Mr. Davit, first as a Deputy Minister, then as a Minister, participated in strategic decisions in all areas, be it integration into the European Union or NATO. On behalf of our team and Government, I would like to thank Dato and wish him success in his future endeavors. The United States is our most important strategic partner, and naturally, when our Government appoints a person with this level of diplomatic experience to such a responsible position, that says it all. Our goal, our desire is to take the relations between the two countries to another level. I believe that Dato will be able to do it successfully, "Gharibashvili said.
