The Military Scientific-Technical Center “Delta” under the Ministry of Defense plans to purchase technical maintenance and an upgrade for the METEOR 735CDP10 radar system, used to detect hail-prone weather and prevent damage in the Kakheti region. The radar system was originally acquired by Georgia in February 2014 for €897,000.
The procurement is valued at €76,247, with the contract covering the period from January 20 to December 31, 2026. Services include technical support for the radar, software and license updates, as well as a full planned system inspection and targeting calibration.
Delta officials noted that, based on the expiration of the current contract and specialist recommendations, annual maintenance is essential to ensure the radar system operates correctly. Because the radar requires highly specialized knowledge, technical servicing will again be provided by the manufacturer, LEONARDO Germany GmbH.
The goal of the procurement is to maintain continuous operation during the hail season, preventing potential damage to agricultural land and state property. Officials stressed that any system failure would make timely identification and neutralization of hail-prone processes more difficult, increasing risks in the region.
