Textile industry representatives say that interest from international markets has decreased.

As Natalia Chkheidze, director of the uniform manufacturer "Unistyle", stated with the TV program "Business Course", production of local products has become more expensive, which has also reduced the interest of foreign customers.

According to her, factors such as increased prices for raw materials and increased wages for labor are also making local production more expensive.

“Inflation in the Turkish market gives us unstable prices for fabrics, we can no longer buy raw materials at the old price, and this also increases the cost of production. Also, the garment sector has managed to increase wages in the sector, and accordingly, this has also increased the cost of production. Therefore, the demand for orders from international markets has halved. When a person brings [fabric] to be sewn, we can no longer make a margin, not only our company, but also other sewing factories. That is why foreign orders have decreased,” said Natalia Chkheidze.

Textile exports from Georgia are decreasing. According to Geostat, in January-March 2025, $38 million worth of machine- or hand-knitted and other types of clothing and clothing accessories were exported from the country.
