Deposits in Armenian Banks Increased by Almost 12%

According to the Statistical Committee, the volume of deposits in Armenia's commercial banks amounted to 5.798 trillion drams (more than 14.8 billion USD) in June 2024.

Compared to the same period in 2023, the volume of deposits increased by 614.9 billion drams (1.58 billion USD) or by 11.9%.

Non-resident deposits totaled 1.378 trillion drams (3.5 billion USD), while resident deposits amounted to 4.42 trillion drams (more than 11.3 billion USD). Of the resident deposits, 60.3% or 2.667 trillion drams (more than 6.8 billion USD) were in Armenian drams, with their volume increasing by 16.6% compared to the end of June 2023. The remaining 39.7% or 1.753 trillion drams (more than 4.5 billion USD) were in foreign currency, with their volume increasing by 10.3% over the same period.

The Statistical Committee also published data on the cash turnover in Armenia's banking system for January-June 2024. According to this data, receipts amounted to 5.721 trillion drams (14.7 billion USD), which is 1.2% more than the same period in 2023. Expenditures increased by 1.3% and amounted to 5.737 trillion drams (more than 14.74 billion USD).

Expenditures exceeded receipts by 16.93 billion drams (43.7 million USD) or by 0.3%.
