On July 9, Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan met with Chinese Ambassador Fan Yong to discuss Armenia's involvement in major regional projects.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister's office, both parties emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation in the field of education between Armenia and China.
The meeting covered key areas of Armenian-Chinese cooperation, noting an increase in trade turnover and exploring prospects for developing bilateral relations in areas of mutual interest.
Both sides highlighted the necessity of enhancing contacts between the Armenian and Chinese peoples to strengthen interstate relations.
Earlier, China Southern Airlines announced the launch of direct flights between Armenia and China.
The first destination will be Ürümqi, the largest city in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, with a population of four million. Flights will commence on September 3 and will be operated twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
China is one of Armenia's top three trading partners. In terms of trade, Beijing ranks third after Russia and the UAE, with a trade volume of $1.22 billion.
Trade with China increased by 54.1% in the first five months of 2024. Armenian exports to China surged 3.9 times to $655 million, while imports fell by 9.5% to $567 million.
