Nina Kekelidze, the director of the tourism company Discover Georgia, who participated in the Armenian-Georgian tourism business forum in Yerevan, announced plans to develop cooperation with Armenian partners.

In an interview with Armenpress, she noted that there are already contracts and coordinated tourist visits to Armenia and Georgia, and new agreements and tour packages will attract more tourists from both countries.

"Special attention at the forum was given to solving issues related to the work of guides, the transportation of tourists, and the quality of hotel services," she said.

Kekelidze emphasized the importance of raising awareness among Georgians about Armenia's tourism opportunities, its history, culture, and cuisine. "One of the goals is to attract Georgian tourists to concerts in Yerevan in September, which could contribute to the development of bilateral tourism," said Nina Kekelidze.

According to Kekelidze, the main problems are related to the quality of services and infrastructure. It is important to create comfortable conditions for tourists to avoid problems and misunderstandings. The introduction of the possibility to cross the border with an ID card has become an important step in simplifying tourist trips.

In conclusion, Kekelidze noted that work on the implementation of joint projects will continue in cooperation with the Georgian Tourism Association and the Armenian Tourism Federation, which could significantly impact the development of the tourism industry in both countries.

Earlier, BMG reported that Armenia and Georgia intend to create a joint working group to develop solutions in the field of tourism. This statement was made by the head of the Armenian Tourism Federation, Mekhak Apresyan, in an interview with journalists.

In May 2024, Armenia was visited by 167,049 tourists, which is 10,000 or 6.3% less than in May of the previous year. For the first five months of this year, the number of tourists was 766,794 people. The largest number of tourist visits in May 2024 was registered from Russia (42%), Georgia (14%), and Iran (7%).
