Fruit processing company Caucasus Organic Fruits, operating in Mtskheta since October last year, will start the season in the end of May by selling all kinds of fruit, seasoning during the year. Otar Lomidze, Quality Manager of the company told BM.ge about this. According to him, the company will buy fruit from farmers and cooperatives and produce high quality dried fruit, candied fruit and tklapi (pureed fruit roll-ups, spread and sun-dried on a flat board). Major part of the produce will be sold in Europe – Germany, Italy and Netherlands.
“In these countries we have already found partners to buy our products. European market is the main priority for us now, however, presently we are in negotiations and 10% of the products will probably be sold on the local market. We are planning to develop bio direction as well, for which purpose we are cooperating with an organization called Caucascert to obtain a certificate. We were also granted FSSC 22000 certificate by a German company TUV, which means that our enterprise complies with the highest international standards and European markets are open for us,”- stated Otal Lomidze.
Caucasus Organic Fruits, Ltd. was established in Mtskheta within the framework of United Agricultural Project. Total investment made 1 700 000 USD, of which 250 000 USD was financed by the state and 500 000 USD was a subsidized agricultural loan. The company will produce over 50 tons of various dried fruit using local raw material.
