Duty tax on flour has been extended for one month, until April 1, 2025. Levan Silagava, head of the Wheat Growers Association, spoke about this with BM.GE.
According to him, duty tax on flour is very important, as it will help the mills and factories continue to operate. Accordingly, Georgian wheat growers will still be able to deliver wheat without any problems.
“It is a very important decision, because it contributes to the continuation of the work of the flour mills and, accordingly, there will be no disruption. Georgian wheat growers themselves will deliver wheat to the flour mills without any problems, therefore, this is the trend that we have been observing for a year and a half and therefore, we see that the market is stable in both flour and bread. Duty tax on flour will continue, contributing to some stability.
We will look at it later and decide what the continuation can be based on the parameters. Because the parameters from the Russian side often change and we must respond from the perspective of the Georgian side,” - Silagava said.
