Armenia's Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Davit Khudatyan, held a meeting with the Head of the Armenian Office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Giorgi Akhalkatsi, to discuss the implementation of major infrastructure projects in the country.
According to the Ministry’s press service, particular attention was given to financing the construction of the North-South Road Corridor, specifically the Sisian-Kajaran section.
During the meeting, the minister highlighted the importance of EBRD support in advancing reform programs and announced the upcoming completion of the solid waste management project in the Kotayk and Gegharkunik regions. He noted that a new landfill would soon be operational.
Notably, Armenia’s cooperation with the EBRD, which began in December 1992, spans critical sectors such as energy, transportation, and finance. Armenia, which has invested €10 million in the bank’s capital, is one of the 39 EBRD member states. Established in 1991, the bank focuses on fostering private sector development in post-Soviet countries.
EBRD experts maintain an optimistic outlook on Armenia’s economic prospects. They project a 6.2% GDP growth for the country in 2024, though a slight slowdown to 4.8% growth is expected in 2025.
