“Economic cooperation serves as a cornerstone of the strategic partnership between Georgia and Azerbaijan, with steady trade growth underscoring the continuous deepening of bilateral ties,” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze declared today during the 11th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
Opening the session, Kobakhidze emphasised that Azerbaijan remains one of Georgia’s premier trade partners and outlined the government’s commitment to building on existing momentum.
“Our objective is to further build upon the results achieved, unlocking the export potential of Georgian products, diversifying trade relations, and encouraging greater investment activity,” the Prime Minister noted.
“Alongside strengthening commercial and economic links, we attach paramount importance to developing the Middle Corridor, which connects Asia to Europe via the Caspian and Black Seas. Our shared goal is to enhance the capacity, efficiency, and competitiveness of this route.
To achieve this, Georgia is executing large-scale infrastructure projects. Construction of the East–West Highway is ongoing, the modernisation of Georgian Railway is complete, and the expansion of rail infrastructure continues. The Baku–Tbilisi–Kars line has become an integral part of the regional transport network, and we are pleased to have brought this vital project to fruition.
Furthermore, the construction of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port and the new Tbilisi International Airport will significantly boost the nation’s transit and logistical capabilities in the years ahead, delivering vital benefits for our bilateral partnership,” Kobakhidze stated.
