Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze says Georgia’s economic growth is driven by a favourable business environment, government economic policy, an efficient tax system and reduced bureaucracy.
He noted that average economic growth reached 7.4% in the first nine months of 2026, significantly exceeding preliminary forecasts by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. Kobakhidze expects the country to outperform these projections by the end of the year as well.
The prime minister also highlighted the work of the government’s economic team over the past 18 months and what he described as the elimination of high-level corruption.
According to Kobakhidze, tackling corruption was a key factor in maintaining last year’s growth rate, despite slowing economic activity across neighbouring countries and the wider region.
