Despite several years of strong economic growth, including double-digit expansion, Georgia has yet to achieve inclusive growth that improves living standards for a broader share of the population, according to businessman Tamaz Daushvili.

Speaking on TV-program Analitics, Daushvili said the benefits of economic growth are not being distributed evenly across society, raising questions about why rising GDP has not translated into stronger purchasing power for many citizens.

“One of the main reasons is the concentration of economic activity in just two or three cities. The economy has been growing, but the resulting wealth is not reaching enough people,” he said.

Daushvili also argued that Georgia cannot afford an oversized public sector given the country's scale. He criticized what he sees as inefficient public spending, noting that the taxes paid by private companies often help finance the operation of newly created state agencies.

He added that advances in digital technologies and artificial intelligence offer opportunities to deliver public services more efficiently and at lower cost. Citing Estonia as a model, Daushvili said Georgia could benefit from adopting similar approaches to digital governance and public administration.
