The Education Ministry will transfer 13,999 laptops to state-owned company Educational Resources for distribution to first-graders and their class teachers. Under a government decree, the ministry was authorized to transfer the movable property free of charge and without an auction.
The laptops are ASUS portable computers, with a unit value of GEL 738. Their total value amounts to GEL 10.33 million.
The state-owned Educational Resources, which is under the Education Ministry, will distribute the laptops to first-graders and their teachers through educational resource centers and public schools.
According to Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, around 45,000 first-graders will begin school in the 2026–2027 academic year, including 38,000 in public schools and 7,000 in private schools.
