Embassy of Georgia hosted a special celebration for the 2023 Rugby World Cup. Davit Zalkaliani, Ambassador of Georgia to the USA, disseminates the information.

"The event spotlighted Georgia's growing prominence in the world of Rugby and highlighted the sport's rise in the Washington DC area and across the US.

We were honored to welcome ambassadors and diplomats from participating Rugby World Cup nations, as well as representatives from the US State Department and Capitol Hill. At the embassy, guests enjoyed a display showcasing teams from Portugal, Wales, Georgia, and local team Old Glory DC, along with an array of tasteful products. A special highlight was the raffle of the Georgian national rugby team's t-shirt.

Rugby's popularity is surging in the USA, with the DC area boasting one of the top US Major League rugby teams, Old Glory DC. And here's some exciting news - the United States is set to host the 2031 Rugby World Cup.

Many thanks to the Welsh Government in North America, Embassy of Portugal and Old Glory DC for supporting this initiative. Special thanks to the Georgian Rugby Union for their support and to our supporters Georgian Wine House and Penderyn for enriching our event", - Davit Zalkaliani writes
