In the fourth quarter of 2023, the average workforce in Armenia amounted to 1.354 million people, of which 86.9% or 1.177 million people were employed in the economy, as reported by the Statistical Committee of Armenia.
It is important to note that 14.8% of this number were engaged in agriculture.
Data presented in the committee's report show that in the first quarter of 2024, the average nominal monthly wage in the republic was 282,879 drams (approximately $725). Despite a registered deflation of 1.2%, there was an 8.2% increase in the average nominal monthly wage during the period under review.
A workforce study conducted by the Statistical Committee in 2022, utilizing the methodology of the International Labour Organization (ILO), revealed that the unemployment rate stood at 13.5% of the workforce. This means that out of the surveyed 7,788 households, 176.6 thousand people were unemployed.
