As of Q4, 2020, the number of employees in the accommodation and food service sector hits a record low. According to Geostat, the number of people employed in the sector totals to 26.421. It worth noting that their number amounted to 48.634 in 2019.
The figure hits a record low since 2014. Over 31.3 thousand persons were employed in the HORECA sector in 2014. The sector employed largest number of persons in 2019 – 48,6 thousand.
In addition, Geostat reports, that the average salary of the employed person in the accommodation and food service sector amounted to 873.6 GEL late last year, while the sum was 904.8 GEL in early 2020.
Moreover, the average turnover of HORECA sector totaled 2089.1 million GEL in 2019, whereas the figure was down to 234.9 million GEL in Q4, 2020.
